ICE Arrest Targets Former Asylum Seeker

UPDATE: A former asylum seeker with the LGBT Asylum Task Force and member of HPC was arrested by ICE at the Miami airport August 11. She was on the phone with Pastor Judy before ICE took her. She told ICE that she was legal (all of her legal work had been completed) and seeking asylum. The ICE agents told her that "gives her no right to be in the USA.” She was moved to a detention center in Texas. There are 115 women housed in a warehouse with toilets, paper thin mattresses, no walls or privacy. She has been told she’ll have an asylum hearing with a date still to be determined.
